WinNT 4.0 doesn't recognize executable files

Greetings.
WinNT 4.0 (Build 1381, Service Pack 6) doesn't recognize
executable files and won't run them if I try to double-click
them. It only asks which program should be used to open the
(.exe, .bat, .com) - files.
The "Run" tool in Start menu works, though.

Any help is appreciated.

Highlight and right-click an executable and see if "Open" is listed. If not, you
will probably have to edit the registry.

Cheers! I suspected the registry... and I just happened to find
a backup of the registry. I imported that into the current one
and now everything works.
