Sometimes students want to see not advantages of mankind but dark sides of
it :)
Arkady
You are a school and you are preventing the students from accessing the
greatest source of information ever put together by mankind???
Don't you really think you should consider, perhaps, doing something
different, if this is the course of action you are going to pursue???
Perhaps you could for a "Keep Mankind in the Dark" society... or a nice
book
burning/banning organization...
Really, there is no end to insanity--once one embarks upon that road...
Warmest regards,
John Smith
Hi
Is there any way of preventing people accessing the internet by typing
the
url into 'my computer' or windows explorer windows? We are a school and
have
found students using this method to access the internet even though we
have
removed IE.
We are using Windows 98/NT
Thanks for any help
Dave

Some hardware router has 'admin' option to disallow Web browsing
filtered by Mac address. Go to
http://www.iana.org/assignments/port-numbers for port and description
which to block.

internet closed up to you start to open.

ZoneAlarm, software firewall, YIKES! Software firewall is too lame.
Kids can crack ZoneAlarm, don't underestimate them. You can block WWW
or port 80, 443, 8080, 8001, etc. by Mac address.
